My blog had suffered a minor technical setback and I was unable to post this week but now that it's all sorted I get to play catch up.
Iain completed this masterpiece at school today, and I find it particularly good. I can always tell when he took his time and paid attention to the details, like the windows and planets in his rocket-ship drawing. Very proud of him also for having such a good day at school today. On Tuesday the 8th this week I was 36 weeks and was feeling the crunch of getting things baby ready. Robert assembled the co-sleeper for me. Though I love having baby in bed with us Robert isn't comfortable with it, he is a big guy and a heavy sleeper and it makes him paranoid so this is our compromise. I made it cozy with a flannel sheet and added the soft green Bamboletta blanket doll (if you have never checked out Bamboletta dolls I highly recommend it they are amazing and Finnley is deeply devoted to her 18" Olivia doll). Finished off the set up with a few receiving blankets and a burp rag and all is ready in this little area.
I also managed to complete my crocheted baby blanket, I had planned on making it a little bigger but ran out of yarn, oh well, I am very happy with the outcome and glad I finished it when I did. It has been washed and is baby ready and oh my so so soft, I can't wait to wrap it around a new little person.
I wanted to take the pictures of the blanket outside but today has been a constant rain/snow slush mix and outside pictures were just not meant to be.
I also made some tiny newborn booties which I'm sure won't fit for long but are just to sweet not to take a picture of and share.
The diapers have all been washed and prepped, starting out with 15 Bum-genius one size small AIOs, 8 Imaging bamboo AIOs, and a ton of prefolds and covers. I started my stash when I was about 15 weeks along so it has been a long time growing, thanks so much to friends and family passing on their pre-loved fluff goodness. I also have about 40 more diapers waiting in the wings and some newborn sposies from my baby shower for emergency wash situations and to get through that meconium stage.
Finnley donated her copy of Little Bear to the baby dresser, and a new Sophie giraffe was bought, not sure what ever happened to the one Finn and Iain used. The wood box is in the shape of a heart and my husband made it for me for Christmas and will be perfect for all of those tiny baby things.
Last but not least my baby shower cake from Saturday. Isn't it the sweetest cake ever? I may be biased but I just know it is. So yummy too, red velvet, and marble cake layers with custard filling, so amazing. So blessed my friend Andrea of Red Letter Cakes likes to spoil her friends with her amazing talents if you live in the area and need a cake I highly recommend her and if you don't, still check out the pictures on her page you just have to see her My Little Pony cake.
