outside my window:: today is the most beautiful spring day! Sunshine everywhere! Kids in t-shirts running around using their best gift-imagination. My wonderful husband Robert weed-eating and mowing the lawn. I love that he loves yard-work.
i am thinking:: What a year it's been, in case you didn't know, today is my birthday, and my oh my what a year it's been. Up and downs and crazy happenings.
i am thankful:: I am so thankful for all I have learned this year. I have learned what I can handle, and let me tell you, it is way more than I ever expected. Robert had heart surgery, I had a blood issue, our house was hit by a car, medical issues from being hit by the car that hit our house, legal and insurance implications, Finnley's first year of full time school and Iain's first school experience with preschool, and being the art coordinator for Finnley's school. It has all been hard and happy and amazing.
in the kitchen:: my husband supplied birthday doughnuts-yum (not my favorite but they are his). Coffee, with water heated in my lovely new turquoisey blue tea kettle a gift from my parents. My cousin Robin's chip dip which is so easy it's scary (cream cheese, cottage cheese, and seasoning blended together with the hand mixer-so good with celery too). Chicken marinating in something my husband made up which he is going to barbecue for dinner tonight.
i am creating:: I just finished Finnley's spring sweater, and just completed a gift for a friend which needs buttons and blocking. I am thinking of expanding the gift and adding a few more elements but I can't share that yet.
i am going:: nowhere! Staying home and enjoying the sun!
i am wondering:: what this coming year will bring. So much has happened I just can't imagine the possibilities but i am hopeful for a calm, peaceful, happy next year.
i am looking forward to:: tomorrow. Tomorrow is of course Easter and it is a wonderful day for family. I love the kids faces when they wake up to an exciting day. They stumble from their rooms a little groggy and their eyes only half open but then they see Easter baskets and it all comes in a sudden rush of excitement.
i am learning:: the joys of getting older. The calmness that comes with age and life experience.
around the house:: the windows are all open, the heavy winter blankets have been replace with summer layers, and my new bunch of un-bloomed daffodils are just starting to show soft yellow tips.
a favourite quote for today::
To everything
There is a season
And a time for every purpose under heaven
A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep
the Byrds
one of my favorite things:: dandelions
a peek into my day::
