To Market
What a glorious day it has been. The morning was so beautiful the kids were out in the backyard in their pajamas! Finnley recieved a skip-bo yesterday, do you remember those? A skip-bo is a skipping contaption where you hook one end around your ankle and then swing it around and jump over it. I actually went in search of a jump rope for Finn but couldn't find one that wasn't so poorly made I thought it would break her first time out with it so I compromised and the beloved skip-bo made it's way to our backyard. At first she wasn't sure what to do, but with some perseverence and determination she is now skipping away and it is why she was tying on her fast shoes at 7:30 in the morning with her pajamas and jacket.
The rest of the morning was lovely Robert mowed the backyard, while Pixie sat just inside the backdoor watching, the kids playing on the deck and waiting their turns to ride with daddy. I was able to do my morning chores, yes chores without interruption. And then we made plans for the day which included veggie shopping at the farmers market and Daffodil Parade watching in town. Puyallup was packed for the parade of course but our destination was the farmer's market which is not full size yet due to the earliness of the growing season but still a good size. Booths were stocked with asperagus, leeks, salad greens and one of our favourites honey. We brought Pixie with us to give her some good socialization practice, which we feel is essential to responsible dog ownership. We were stopped more times than we can count to be asked all of the normal puppy questions, and Pixie loved all of the attention and pats and meeting all of the kids and other dogs while we wove our way through the booths. We left with a few treasures and some amazing, beautiful flowers.
We had a small family meeting and decided we didn't really want to sit and watch the parade, while parades are fun and we do love them sitting alongside the road for an hour or so just didn't hold much appeal on this beautiful day. So after a very short deliberation we headed home to drop off a tuckered out Pixie, and headed to the park to spend the afternoon playing.
All in all a fun afternoon was had by all. Pixie took an extremely long and well deserved nap. Robert worked on one of the garden beds putting up edging and turning over the earth. The kids used every ounce of energy they had running and playing and exploring the park.
For dinner we had huge filling salads bursting with treasures and supplemented from the market. Baths were had and much dirt was washed away, clean pajamas worn and beds are now filled with sleeping babes their hair drying and their noses sun freckled.
During mommy time yesterday I was able to block the sweater my mom has been waiting on since before the accident, luckily it only needed blocking a button row and the buttons, all of which are done except the buttons, I was able to remove it from the board today so buttons are on the agenda and then it's off in a gift package my mom is sending.
So happy the warm days are upon us and the adventure of the summer is in front of us. We had a winter full of challenges and are excited for the laid back organic flow of the warmer months.
